Up until now, we’ve covered the history of fitness, the importance of proper planning and goal setting, how to lose weight fast and why you need to keep your workouts simple. In this article, we’re going to discuss functional fitness, and why you should care about it.

Functional Fitness - It Makes Living Easier and Could Even Save Your Life

Functional fitness is one of, if not the, most important things to pay attention to when working out. It’s the kind of fitness that firefighters and soldiers train for, and the kind of fitness that could save your life or help you save a life.

It also makes day to day choirs easier, like taking groceries home, lifting heavy objects, and keeping your endurance up despite a long day.

The Difference Between Functional Fitness and Getting “Cut” or “Losing Weight”

Functional Fitness is very different from getting cut or losing weight. Functional fitness revolves around real world strength and feeling strong, whereas getting cut and losing weight is only about how you look.

The truth is, there are a lot of people who look like they are absolutely in amazing shape, when they really aren’t. They might have bad cardio, or stomach pain all the time from eating constantly(bodybuilders), or they might have back pain (Mr. T from the gold chains) or might be lacking cartilage in their knees (some athletes).

This isn’t supposed to discourage you from getting into amazing shape and looking like you’re in amazing shape at all. The difference between Passionate Fitness and other sites, is that when we go about trying to get you to look like you’re in amazing shape, we also want you to FEEL like you’re in amazing shape and BE in amazing shape.

We want you to teach you how to lose weight, and at the same time we also want to help you get rid of your lower back pain. We want you to get ripped, but at the same time we want to show you how to strengthen your body against injuries.

From our standpoint, we want you to go into your 60’s and 70’s looking and feeling great, and that’s the approach we take when it comes to fitness.

Exercises That Help Improve Your Functional Fitness

Here are examples of exercises that help you improve your functional fitness:

*Deadlifts - Lifting things off the ground.

*Squats - Lower Body Strength.

*Pullups/Chinups - Body Weight Strength, Shoulders, Back, Arms

*Running for Cardio (Being able to run 3 miles is very good for endurance, even if your focus isn’t on cardio)

*Sprinting - Anabolic strength. Good for chasing or running away from people.

*Supermans - Lower back strength.

There’s Nothing Wrong With Losing Weight or Getting Ripped, but Functional Fitness Needs to Be a Major Part of Your Workout.

There’s nothing wrong with getting cut or losing weight, and reading this site and participating in the forums will help you achieve that goal, but don’t forget about functional fitness. Not only can functional fitness help you day to day, but it will make you feel stronger and help you enjoy your workouts more than you ever would otherwise.
