This week, thousands of articles on fitness and health have been written. Here at Passionate Fitness, we comment on some of the most interesting ones and share our opinions about them with you. First, there are still contest submissions coming in, and while we're not going to play favorites, we will say that we are very impressed with what we've gotten so far. We want to remind everyone to submit an article before the contest ends October 14th. Here's our top 5 commentary roundup: #5 - Mark's Daily Apple - Choose Your Booze, a Guide to Healthy Drinking This article choice is for our member, Guzzlinsuds. While the "Primal Living" crowd isn't known for their drinking, this article did a good job of telling people which drinks to go with. We were happy to see that scotch made the list of something that you could drink, but wouldn't necessarily agree that Vodka is a "bottom of the barrel" alcohol. What really sticks out with this article is not so much its great content, high quality pictures and good writing. We've come to expect nothing less than such from Mark Sisson. Rather, it's that this article was written by one of Mark's employees, and not Mark himself. We're not used to seeing the worker bees post anything else other than recipes, and have to admit we were pretty amazed to see it wasn't written by Mark. Mark - we recommend keeping this worker bee on the payroll. #4 - Zen to Fitness - 5 Simple But Overlooked Tips Chris from ZTF delivers a short but succinct article on 5 simple but overlooked tips. We enjoyed this article for giving practical advice like ditching the soda or taking some vitamins in a very matter of a fact, concise fashion. #3 - Cranky Fitness - Healthy Living on a Budget Recently, there was a forum thread initiated by Health Habits about whether you can eat healthily on a small budget. While this isn't a brand new article like the others, we wanted to mention it because it discusses ideas for not only eating healthily, but staying in shape while on a budget. #2 - Men's Fitness - Win The Flu and Cold War Men's Fitness gives a few easy tips for fighting the common cold in this article. No cold fighting article would be complete without a mentioning of Grandma's soup, and Men's Fitness definitely comes through. #1 - Fitness Black Book - High Metabolism When Young, Slow Metabolism When Old - Inevitable? Rusty, doing what he does best, challenges conventional wisdom that there's no way to avoid a slowing metabolism as you get older. Whether this is true enough still has to be proved, but he makes a convincing case by showcasing an older man with 6-8% bodyfat who claims to have sustained his metabolism through a serious exercise and training regimen. We liked this article for talking about the benefits of exercise while you age, something that we believe isn't talked about nearly enough. There you have the Passionate Fitness Commentary Roundup.
