TOPIC: Get Fit and Save Money

Get Fit and Save Money 10 Months, 1 Week ago
Is it possible to get fit without breaking the bank?

Lately, I have heard from a ton of "experts" who say that low income populations are prone to obesity because access to healthy food and exercise is just too damn expensive.

I say that's a load of BS.

What say you?

Doug,

I agree with you. When money was tight for me in the past, I simply ate less and it saved me money.

When money was tight for me I also wound up training more instead of going out, since training is free.

Bottom line, people can use any number of excuses to live an unhealthy lifestyle, I just don't buy into any of those excuses.

I think that it's definitely harder to eat healthily without a solid income.

That's mainly because fruits and vegetables can be expensive in some places, the cheapest bread is white bread (the whiter the bread the sooner dead they say), and good meats are more expensive.

I do agree with you though that there's no reason spending less on food should lead to obesity. If you're spending less on food, if anything, shouldn't you be skinnier?

If you live outside of a 3rd world country there's really no reason you can't eat healthier.

I look at school kids bringing there snack packs loaded with pre-processed meat and sodium filled crackers when they could be having something more nutritious like a tuna sandwich with celery and carrot sticks on the side?
